US officials due in Pakistan next week to discuss Afghan deportation issue



ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – A delegation of US officials is expected to visit Pakistan next week to discuss the deportation of Afghan nationals who have taken refuge in Pakistan following the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in August 2021.

The visit comes amid growing concerns about the safety of Afghans who are being deported back to their country, where they face the risk of persecution from the Taliban.

The US government has urged Pakistan not to repatriate Afghans who actively collaborated with its forces in Afghanistan, fearing reprisals from the Taliban administration.
